UIM Awards Giving Gala



The prestigious annual UIM Awards Giving Gala will take place on Saturday, February 26th 2011 at the magnificent Salle des Etoiles in Monaco. The UIM will host and entertain a truly international crowd of 300 persons from 25 different nations to honour over 70 World Champions of Powerboat racing.
“It will be a very special event where we will have the opportunity to dedicate an evening such as this to our drivers who have achieved the ultimate prize in the sport, earning a World Championship and becoming Gold Medallists in their racing disciplines” stated Dr. Raffaele Chiulli, UIM President.
“Our top drivers from all over the World will be honoured for their 2010 achievements on the water while learning about the future direction and the newest approaches to growing our sport. I also would like to share with everyone in attendance the UIM pride for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decision to give to the UIM 'full recognition' which is a significant acknowledgment and appreciation and that will further strengthen our position as an active and loyal member of the Olympic family. The future looks bright for the UIM, the world governing body for Powerboat racing, and the Gala Awards evening will be a great way to “kick off” the upcoming season in the spectacular fashion of Monaco”.
A significant number of VIP guests, testimonials and top representatives from National Authorities, Council, Promoters, International Sport Federations, Institutions, Boatyard Industry, IOC, selected enterprises and international Media will attend this prestigious event at the wonderful Salle des Etoiles.
Two significant Awards will be given at the event: the “2010 UIM Environmental Award” and the “Stefano Casiraghi Memorial Trophy”. The UIM Environmental Award has been launched to inspire and recognize excellence in innovation, development and application of environmentally friendly technologies. Among the main selection criteria:
Innovation, Significance, Practicality, Usability, Economic Feasibility and Environmental Benefit. For the 2010 edition there will be a Winner and two Special Mentions. Numerous applications have been received demonstrating great interest from the Powerboat racing and the Boatyard industry communities. The Stefano Casiraghi Memorial Trophy is the honour annually given in recognition of special service to the sport and to whom in their career have done something special in improving and developing our sport. A Press Conference introducing the event and the UIM Awards winners will be held at the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco at 4.30 pm.
