Wednesday, 21 April: Following a six month stint abroad, the Class 1 fleet is back in Europe, and crews will now complete the final legs of their journeys to their respective home or European bases.

After being based in the UAE for the last two months of 2009 for the Abu Dhabi and Dubai GPs and to sit-out the winter, before heading to Brazil for this season’s-opener in Rio de Janeiro in March, the 5500 cubic metres and 700 tons of Class 1 hardware - seven raceboats, trucks and trailers, two Nor-Tech 3600 Supercat pace boats, seven workshops, seven hospitality rigs and five trucks carrying support equipment, ribs and pontoons - finally arrived back in Savona, Italy this week.

For Giorgioffshore, Veneta Marina Racing and possibly Duemme Broker Racing in the short-term, Italy is the final leg of their journey, with Dubai’s Victory Team also based in Italy at their European headquarters in Pisa - whilst Welmax Offshore Racing still has some distance still to travel to get their equipment back to Larvik in Norway.

Teams can now start to prepare for the European legs of the Championship which kicks off in Arendal, Norway in July followed by races in Uddevalla, Sweden and Mamaia- Contstanta, Romania in August and Stresa, Italy in October.
